Education

If we really want to eradicate poverty, education is key.  It is vital for those stuck in the cycle.  But it is also important that the future leaders learn the multifaceted issue and what solutions are effective long-term.

As a teacher, it is also important that we weave our passions into teaching.  Without doing so, we risk lacking authenticity.  And poverty-elimination is probably a passion for all of us, whether we realize it or not.

Why do we want our students to get a good education?  So they can go to college and fulfill their dreams…aka avoid poverty.  So they can learn a trade and get a good job…aka avoid poverty.

But sometimes seeing poverty first hand is the catalyst we are missing.  It helps us appreciate and be thankful for all we have.  It also creates empathy and compassion, something our world is desperate for.

So check back occasionally, as I hope to build lessons and offers tips for how to open the eyes and hearts of our students.    May we all find ways to be a force for change.
