Today marks the last day of Fashion Revolution Week 2018. But it doesn’t have to be the end.
Ideas can change us.
And actions speak volumes, especially when money is involved. So what if for the next year, we resolved to change our habits.
*What if we buy second hand or have swaps with friends?
*How about supporting companies, like Elegantees, Sseko, Trades of Hope, Symbology, and Sojourns who are fighting the battle against sweatshops and slavery? (These are just a few of my favorites. Add your favorites in the comments)
*What if we write a letter to our favorite company inquiring about how they treat their workers at the bottom of the supply chain?
*Could we educate ourselves better by watching documentaries like “True Cost” or “Poverty, Inc.” to learn more about why fair trade matters.
This week I smiled when my son told me he wanted to be a fireman, and my daughter quickly chimed in, “and I want to help people like you do at Trades of Hope.” There is hope for a brighter future, and our children see everything we do. They notice when we place value on people, or when we place it on items.
May we not stop fighting for things that matter. What about you, do you have any plans to carry Fashion Revolution Week forward?
